What
people say about Corona Artificial Smoke Generators.
Door Leaks at Boeing "..Expectations of this project are
to find a feasible solution for accurately detecting door
leaks. Of the four different alternatives I've
pursued in this project, the Spirit smoke
generator and the ultrasonic mister have the
highest potential for success. "...we try to solve a wide variety of problems in airplane production and versatile tools are very valuable to us..." "...we may need to investigate other aircraft parts for seal quality. Since we also work with optics and lasers, there might be a situation where seeing the laser light as it propagates through smoke is beneficial..."

Fire Fighter Training "..When I pulled it out of the box I was shocked that the machine is so small. The chief was standing there and he commented that we just spent all that money for a theatrical grade machine and he didn't look any too happy. I almost had to agree with him but I said that we would go ahead and give it a try anyway, but I figured I was in big trouble. Wow! What a surprise! We plugged it in, let it warm up and when I turned on the smoke switch, I knew immediately this isn't any theatrical grade machine! We smoked out our double depth five bay station in about ten or fifteen minutes to zero visibility. The chief
just stood there with his jaw dropped. He couldn't
believe that this little machine performed so well. I
have to admit I was really amazed
myself. We even got smoke into areas that it wasn't
supposed to go like the bunk rooms (the shift lieutenant
wasn't amused) because of getting into the attic space.
We even had someone across the street call 911 after we
opened the bay doors to vent. Our control called on the
phone saying that they were going to turn us out for a
smoke investigation until they realized that the address
was our station. That's a pretty good testimony when we can fool people based on smoke quality and quantity.....after we finished, I checked how much fluid we had used. It turned out to be about a third of a gallon. Now that's efficient! You folks turn out a really top quality product and I am very glad that we made the decision to go with Corona. It was a little bit more money but I am absolutely convinced that it is worth every penny.."
NASA Windtunnel Tests NASA - Ames, expresses their satisfaction with the overall performance of the Vicount 5000 smoke machine in the NASA windtunnel, using recycled air.
... Hi Johan, I have used the Corona Vicount 5000 here at NASA Ames Research Center for several years and am extremely happy with its performance. At Ames we have about 7 or 8 of these machines at our disposal that we use in various wind tunnels on base.... AW NASA - Ames Research Center Testing Hepa Filters The
Spirit smoke machine worked wonderfully.....we solved

Air Balancing "...A
final note: During an earlier aborted test we had the Colt 4 and the
supply fan running for 20 minutes without the exhaust fan operating.
The pool room filled up with smoke to a visibility of about 1/3 of
that in picture 1. It was great to see how much smoke this little
machine can produce. And, the HVAC system works so well that 12
minutes after turning the exhaust fan off, there was no trace of
smoke so; kids could be allowed in to swim. Doug

We currently have 12 Spirit smoke machines, and we use Corona 100A Smoke Fluid, for persistent smoke. The Spirit is the perfect machine for the job, as it is easily maintained by daily nozzle cleaning and routine weekly maintenance, cleaning the exterior of the unit, and blowing the dust away from inside the case. We run the machines for eight hours daily, thereby we consider this to be heavy usage of the machine. Our experience varies slightly from the recommended procedures, as we clean the heater block monthly, rather than annually. We log on average nearly two hundred working hours monthly on each machine, and we depend heavily upon them. We have found that monthly cleaning will keep the machine running at it's optimum. We have found the Spirit smoke machine to be very reliable, and recommend it to construction companies.
Construction of Buildings on Gas Contaminated Land Advanced Concrete Restoration and Waterproofing, Inc. installs methane gas barriers. These barriers meet the ASTM D 1434 standard and comply with various local government regulations in the State of California. Our Company uses artificial fog [smoke] for quality assurance of sealing membranes covering hazardous construction sites. The fog is dispersed underneath the membrane allowing escaping fog to disclose leaks. We have found the Spirit 900 artificial smoke generator and the associated fan assembly from Corona Integrated Technologies Inc. to be extremely effective for confirming new gas barrier installations. On a recent project in Huntington Beach, CA, the Spirit was used to screen one comprehensive site of eight building pads comprising over 45,000 square feet in total. The Spirit lifted the continuous membrane within seconds to the ready satisfaction of the building inspector and the manufacturer of the sealing compound. Corona has been most forthcoming in accommodating our requirements and we wholeheartedly recommend their technology.
Aircraft Smoke Detection System "...Our
"Vicount
Aviator" is performing as advertised! We have used it recently
in one of our aircrafts for designing the layout of a smoke detection system, which will be going through flight test qualification this upcoming
year..." Weapons Range Training "...I am pleased to tell you that I am very impressed and completely
satisfied with the purchase of our Spirit smoke generator. Commercial Shipyard "...We have had our Spirit since 2003. We use it to establish airflow and containment performance aboard ships. It is magnificent - putting out twice the amount of smoke of alternative machines..." WBW . Page
