Colts are used
throughout the world by fire departments, health
authorities, the military, and various industrial
operators. This portable smoke generator can be carried and operated with one
hand. An easy-fit aerosol canister provides clean
all-in-one fluid and propellant supply. For as long as it
retains sufficient heat, the Colt can be operated
while being disconnected from its power source.
The use of the Colt for an assessment of the HVAC system in an enclosed
public swimming pool
offers an illustration of the smoke producing capability of this shoe-box size machine. The Colt reduced visibility in the 354,000 cu. ft. building to some 60 feet within 20 minutes.
After activation of the HVAC supply and exhaust fans – providing for 7 air changes per hour - the Colt retained visibility to some 100 feet to facilitate observation of the air flow pattern. Upon switching off the generator it took 12 minutes for the fans to clear all the smoke from the pool space.

COLT 3
This model produces
smoke that disperses quickly. It is ideal for
applications that require small quantities of smoke or
smoke of limited density.
Some
typical Colt 3 applications:
- evacuation training
- air-flow
visualization
- leak testing of
small systems
- visual effects
COLT
4
Produces a dense smoke
that is persistent in nature and lingers for a
considerable time - even after the machine has been
switched off. The smoke can withstand temperatures in
excess of 140° F.
The Turbo model
produces almost twice the smoke output.
Some
typical Colt 4 applications:
- emergency training
- airflow
visualization
- leak testing of
ducting systems, buildings, containers, sewer and
other pipe systems
- public order
containment and training
